The Ombre Lip

Ombre is taking over everywhere from hair, to nails, and now makeup. The trend is turning up on lips creating a 3-D effect making the lips look bigger for some of us this might be great news. So how does it work you ask? It’s all about combining two contrasting colors, such as, red and pink or burgundy and red. The darker shade goes on the outside of the lip fill in the center with the lighter shade. Use matte finish lipstick for the outside & inside or try a lipgloss for the center. This lips is fun and bold so make the rest of your make-up simple.

Waterfall Braids

I must admit Coldplay’s Every Teardrop is a Waterfall totally inspired this post. People are really getting creative with their hair these days and I am loving every minute of it. In my eyes, Lauren Conrad was the first one to make braids cool again. I remember when she was on The Hills she always did a cool little side braid and it always look so delicately perfect. Girls have taken the side braid and created the waterfall braid. It’s like the french braid, but a bit more lose. Give it a try if you need a hair change.

Classic Chipped Nails

I love nail polish. I think it’s a great way to dress up your nails and it’s one thing society believes girls can do and boys can’t, even though some guys do pain their nails but that’s a different topic. Nail polish alway looks great the first three days, but then that inevitable fourth day hits and thing star going downhill as that first nail chips. And then you get busy and when you look down at you fingers on the fifth day you realize both your pink and thumb are beginning to chip. By the seventh day all your nails have chipped and no you’re so busy you don’t have time to take the nail polish off so you walk around with chipped nails instead. I think the worst part about having chipped nails is when someone compliments you on your chipped nail color. Because then it’s a backhanded compliment, they like the color but they are also acknowledged you’re inability to keep up with your fingernails. I’m writing this post to acknowledge the fact that we all hate chipped nails and sadly ladies I don’t have a solution, expect find the time to take off your chipped nail polish.

P.S. I wrote this entire post with chipped finger nails ;)

Go Makeup Free

For some girls not wearing makeup is like walking out the house without clothes on. Personally I love makeup wearing it is fun and I love the way I can manipulate and enhance my features, but makeup can be so heavy and daunting. Sometimes I love to walk out the house with my fresh face and I really think more girls need to start working their fresh face too. Think of it this way ladies, you were born into this world without a lick of makeup on your face and you probably weren’t allowed to wear makeup until you were thirteen so what’s the big deal with not wearing makeup now. I really don’t think we need the eyeliner or the mascara in the morning. You’re beautiful without it. Work you’re fresh face because it’s absolutely stunning! Don’t be afraid to show the world you’re true self. It’s nothing to be afraid of.

Lauren Conrad Debuts Fuchsia Hair

Who knew Miss Conrad could be so wild. After dying her tips peach back in October, Conrad went for something a bit more vibrant this time around. Yesterday at a book signing Lauren Conrad walked out with her hair in a perfect ponytail and fuchsia tips. I have to say I think look works for Lauren, but I wonder what it looks like when her hair is down. I’m not sure if this look is a true keeper for Miss Conrad, she will probably be back to blonde by next week. May I add that she looked so great at her book signing because of her studded collar and winged eye. Now someone must be reading Fashionique.

No More Cat Eye, Try a Winged Eye

Upon reading the headline I know your first inference must be, what’s the difference between a winged eye and a cat eye?  Honestly the difference is subtle. The cat eye has a wing effect which includes eyeliner on both the top and bottom lid, while the winged eye is more of a day time look and requires liner on the top lid only. I really like the winged eye for a daytime look. It really livens up your eyes and it’s flirty and fun. I have seen a lot of girls play this up lately and it looks great. Try the winged eye with other colors too. It looks awesome with purple eyeliner because it’s subtle enough to go unnoticed, but at the same time it makes your eyes POP.
