The Boyfriend Watch –Another Boyfriend for the Collection

Boyfriend jeans, Boyfriend tees, Boyfriend blazers now’s it’s time to tap into accessories. I introduce to you the Boyfriend Watch. So why do we add the word  boyfriend to it. It’s because the face of the watch is large like a typical men’s watch, but the band is small made for a woman. I first noticed this trend when it popped up in my Charming Charlie’s email. By the way Charming Charlie’s is a cheap girl’s accessory heaven. They’re currently selling boyfriend watches for an affordable price. For those of you who want spend more, then look to brands like Michael Kors and Coach. BF watches come in many colors, but I am currently digging the rose gold even though it looks terrible on my skin tone. Rose gold is perfect for paler skin tones and white gold is better for darker skin tones. I think we should all add another boyfriend to our collection, so hop on the boyfriend watch trend, so you always know what time it is.

2011 Style Staples

The Blazer

The blazer is an essential piece that is here to stay. During the winter season it was the perfect way to go out without wearing a coat. The masculine shoulders and feminine cut at the waste was the perfect mix. For the spring season the blazer will very remain the perfect item to wear when a coat isn’t necessary, however colors like blue and black will not work for spring. Think bold, bright, colors like pinks and oranges. Look out for bright blazers this coming season. You’ll be pairing them with cut off shorts and tangerine tees it’s sounds crazy, but it’s going to be beautiful.

Neutral Cardigan

The cardigan came back in modern form this year. No longer was it a grandma sweater, rather it was the perfect piece to add when you wanted something more neutral and comfy. Cardigans will be seen topping dresses and skirts this coming spring.

Leather Leggings

Leggings returned to our closets in 2007 and they continue to remain their. I don’t know about you, but I own hundreds of leggings in so many styles.  Knitted, cotton, polyester, whatever your preference there are so many options for these skin tight pants. This year the real go to option was leather, it made any outfit look sexy and effortless. I don’t know if the leather will become a spring staple. I mean who wants to wear leather in 70 degree weather.

Sequins Sequins Sequins

Winter or spring sequins will continue to shine this season and into the next. By adding a touch of sequins you can look super classy and by adding a whole bunch of sequins you’re party girl ready. It’s all about how much and in which way. Sequins can be worn anywhere from skirts, to shirts, to leggings the possibilities are just ridiculous.

Blazers and Dresses, A City Look

I will be heading into the city this  Friday and I have to say I am uber excited. I love Christmas in New York. So of course my biggest

dilemma is what to wear. I mean I am sure of one thing, which is layer, layer, layer but after that I really don’t know what to wear.

The blazer and dress look is one of my many options. As I form the look in my head I think this is something that might work if the weather is 40 degrees or higher. I love this look because the blazer is very structured, but the dress is flowy and whimsical. It’s the perfect mix between masculine and feminine. I think this look would really work with a pair of boots and tights or a pair of boots and thigh highs. Do you see where I am going here people? Top it all off with a warm peacoat, knitted hat, and a wool scarf. This would be the perfect combination of all my blog posts and the perfect outfit, but only if it’s 40 degrees or warmer.

Thigh High Socks are Sexy

Thigh highs shouldn’t be on your wish list they should be on your “I NEED THIS” list.

I go to school in Ithaca. It’s a very cold but beautiful place. The cold will get to you no matter how much you want to ignore it. After this weekend I learned many things about how to dress during these upcoming cold weather nights. First do not wear a skirt, t-shirt, and ankle boots and think you are going to be warm just by wearing a peacoat. That’s what my friend did and she didn’t even make it through the night because she was so cold.

So how should you dress?

Take advice from me the warm and smart fashionista. I took a different route. I wore a skirt and boots, but I wore thigh highs with my boots. When I was indoors I would fold the socks down so they only showed a little bit over my boot and then when I went outside into the 20 degree weather I hiked by thigh highs real high so they covered my whole thigh. I wasn’t completely warm, but I also wasn’t an icicle like the rest of my friends. I will also be selfless and say I looked sexy. There is something about the way thigh highs cover your legs but leave a little bit of skin showing, just enough to leave people curious. It’s the best way to look warm, cute, and a little bit half naked this winter. Play it up have fun.

Bell Bottoms:The Pant to Wear Grocery Shopping?

Photos Courtesy: Imgur

I thought bell bottoms were so two seasons ago, but apparently I was wrong. From Beckham to Duff bell bottoms are in and it’s what you wear to grocery shop ladies. Bell bottoms are casual chic because they make you look fashionable without trying. I mean seriously bell bottoms are just excessively flared jeans. Nevertheless there are specific rules to be followed when buying bell bottoms.

1. The hem should be as wide as your foot—don’t over do it

2.  Loose at the knee– but not too loose because that’s just a baggy boyfriend jean from 07′ and not too tight because then that’s total 90′s

Sorry to be so specific, but I want everyone to look their best. Finally pair your ultra flared jeans with a fitted shirt don’t wear anything baggy on top because then you look like flowy mess. Wear a tight tee or dress it up with a fitted blouse.

It’s Time to Meet the “Mullet” Skirt

For those of us vertically challenged the “mullet skirt” is the perfect alternative to the maxi trend.  High/low short/long whatever you want to call it, the skirt looks like a mullet and can be worn a few different ways. You can wear the short part in the front with a pair booties to show off your legs. I would say this is more of a nighttime look. For day time switch it up wear the skirt sideways which creates more of a diagonal asymmetrical look. It’s like an ultra high slit. The “mullet skirt” is definitely a trend to watch during the fall season and I have a feeling you will be seeing it a lot more during the spring. Oh and I would say this is a piece that you need in your wardrobe.
