Haute Couture Spring 2010

The Spring Haute Couture shows have begun in Paris and there have been many OMG moments. Haute Couture literally means “high dressmaking”. The Haute Couture runway shows are different from Ready-To-Wear because the clothes of couture are more of an art than they are wearable.

Yesterday, Jean Paul Gaultier presented a runway collection inspired by Aztecs and Avatar. It was a Mexican Fiesta! Fashion Wire Daily reports:

“I saw the Avatar and, like everyone, found it extraordinary. And from there I began thinking of nature and ecology, and the Latin American tropics; and from there it was not very far to Mexico,” explained Gaultier, seconds after posing for photos with Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko.

  • Gucci Couture- Gucci’s Frida Giannini is working of couture collection. But, we won’t be seeing in on the couture runways anytime soon. The collection will only be available by-appointment only for red carpet celebrities.
  • Ciara showed up to the Givenchy yesterday, 40 minutes late and was booed by photographers. But, what was she wearing? Umm how about look 21 from Givenchy’s fall 2010 runway collection.
  • Trends of the runway- Bleached eye brows and two-toned hair
