Jean Paul Gaultier Goes Mexican in Moscow

On Friday, French designer Jean Paul Gaultier unveiled his first haute couture collection in a railway station in Moscow. He called it the perfect backdrop to his collection which he calls “a journey”. Models stomped the runway to mexican music in traditional mexican style clothing from ponchos to sombreros, to conquistador style jackets and leaf woven dresses. It easy to tell Gaultier was influenced by traditional mexican and Aztec style as models had long braids and leaves and feathers appearing out of their hair and sombreros. The collection was colorful bright and deep hues of reds, greens and yellows. It definitely seems more couture is to come of Gaultier.
