The show began with a life-sized carousel and models perfectly perched on white horses. Marc Jacobs returned to the 1960s Jackie-O era for the Louis Vuitton spring collection. The clothes were light and airy with feathers and delicate flowers. 60’s cap sleeves, full skirts, and lacy collars decked the runway. The color palette was simply full of creams and pastels. Kate Moss closed the show again in a short white frock wafting with feathers. Afterwards Jacobs told reporters, “[I have] an attitude about being consistent, so I thought, you know what, we’re going to consistently close the show with Kate Moss,”
The meaning of the carousel for Jacobs:
It’s also a bit of a metaphor about this cycle of fashion and how it goes around and around, and regardless of what your references are, whatever you choose to look at, it’s just cyclical…We had one of the horses in the office, because all the girls had to pose on it during the fittings. So I did get on it and did some crazy poses.
Can you believe Daokta Fanning is starting college! I guess I should believe it because I just started college too. Fanning will begin her freshmen year at NYU sometime this fall and she has the same concerns of every college girl. What will she wear? Dakota remarks,“Going to college is a bit different than going back to high school. You can kind of wear whatever you want, and I had a uniform in high school.” But don’t even think for a second that Miss Fanning will set into the frumpy look of typical college students she says,
“If you ever catch me in sweatpants in class, that’s not good,”joked the star.“I’ve tried not to dress like that.”
The L.A. native says she is prepared for the New York chill and has brought lots of coats and of course her “Hunter” rain boots. Unlike other college students, Fanning has a designer friend that can help her out with her wardrobe choices. Don’t forget Fanning is the face of Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! perfume campaign.
Of course we already knew she was stunning, but I give Sofia Vergara five stars for her Vera Wang. The dress simply compliments her figure along with those Columbian emerald earrings. Modern Family dominated the Emmys and so did Sofia in that dress. J’DIE
Lea Michelle looked like a glass of fine wine. Ruffled shoulder pads and all the girl “Makes it work!” in a red hot Marchesa gown. According to the LA Times Lea Michelle was complaining about the absolutely perfect weather. As she made her way to the press line she had to wait and complained, “Um, is this gonna start soon? Cause I’m getting really hot. Really hot. I’m getting sunburned.”
Seal and Heidi Klum are the epitome of HOT! Heidi’s dress was made by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano and I have to say it’s absolutely perfect. So what did she have to say about her dress, “I like to give our designers some props,I told him I would like to have this color, but then he kind of just ran with it.”
And as for Seal, how about that man cleavage. Not everyone can pull it off but when you’re a rockstar I guess it’s pretty easy to pop open a few buttons. In my eyes Seal and Heidi did not wrong they looked fantastic at the Emmys!
It was an American Affair on Saturday, July 31st as the Clinton’s gathered in Rhineback,NY for the marraige of Chelsea Clinton and her beau Marc Merzvinsky. Chelsea wore a strapless ivory and silk tulle Vera Wang gown with an embellished belt which cinched the waist. Her hair was pulled back and she accented with a traditional Vera Wang veil. The look was pulled together with a bouquet of white hydrangeas. For the reception Chelsea changed into a grecian Vera Wang dress accented with a black belt and a criss cross back. [Stylelist]
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz married in a close intimate ceremony in Cosica, France. Keys wore an ivory silk draped goddess Vera Wang gown with jewel detail on the back shoulder. The pregnant singer topped off her gown with a non traditional jeweled head piece and a bouquet of purple calla lilies. [People]
Sarah Burton was McQueen’s right hand women when it came to making his creations more commercial like so that women would actually by them. Since his death she taken over the McQueen brand and is ready to present the world with her first women’s resort collection. It is pretty apparent that Burton commercialized McQueen’s designs because the collection seems pretty wearable and normal. Its not very out of the ordinary, however this is only the resort collection I can’t form a true opinion until I see the fall and spring collections. [The Cut]
