I won’t lie this post popped in my head as I was dancing around my house with the music blasting.
Right in the middle of One Republic’s Feel Again I realized that I was head over heels in love with myself in that moment. I’ve been a bit lost lately. I keep trying to figure out who I am, what defines me and I am so determined to find my voice. But as I was belting out the lyrics (water bottle in hand) to Feel Again the search came to an end because who I am, what defines, my voice well that’s all right in front of me. The girl dancing around in her underwear and bra that’s who I am. Dancing, being utterly insane, living that’s what defines me and my voice well I’ve had it all along.
I’m calling this an epiphany because I want everyone to know, if you’re lost and trying to figure out who you are just stop for a second and spend some time with yourself. You don’t ever really lose who you are, you just forgot to spend time with yourself. Everyday spend twenty minutes with yourself think, reflect, meditate…whatever makes you happy because that’s who you are.
Style is a direct expression of who you are. When you’re shopping make sure every piece you buy is a piece of you. Have the confidence to wear what ever you want. Don’t let others determine you’re style because your style is you. Remember style is forever and fashion is truly just a season.
I know I’m already breaking rule one of being a hipster, but it’s all for the well being of style and my readers. My friend Kelly and I love Fall so much that we have recently adopted the hipster style … Continue reading →
Roxy Olin from The City shows viewers her closet presented by BlueFly. The twentysomething year old doesn’t seem to be struggling as shows off her YSL shoes and Michael Jackson-esque shorts. Her closet is very Roxy, all over the place, and thankfully there weren’t any “Ballerina, gone punk rock, gone a little hooker, but in a good way,” type looks.
I think we can all understand that Miley Cyrus is trying to shed her “Hannah Montana” image. However, there is a line between shedding your pop star image and shedding your clothes. Clearly Miley Cyrus has crossed that line as she wears Lady Gaga like corsets while performing in front of a teen audience. Or as she walks into her hotel wearing daisy dukes and Alexander Wang peep toe sky high heels and exits showing her midriff. This past week Cyrus teetered around in 7-inch Christian Louboutin peep-toe lace ups. It was evident that she could barely walk or stand the pain. Being a 17 year-old like Cyrus I can understand the eagerness to grow up, however, there is a difference between growing up and slutting up.
I love Lauren Conrad and to hear she is writing a style book, I am head over heels. The book features advice from her and her glam-squad. Along with never before seen photos, “personal stories, live and learn stories,” and even “a couple of high school horror stories.” The chapters are devoted to special occasions and even the dreaded phrase “business casual”. What is business casual anyway?? At first I wasn’t feeling the cover of Conrad’s style guide. I was concerned with how big her eyes were. At first glance it seems she is being tortured. But, if you take a second look its easy to see that Conrad has the look of a girl who just walked into DSW and is totally having a shoe-gasm. It’s Fashion Chic! [People]
